Welcome to the latest newsletter from ‘About Them Shoes’!
It’s good to be back rehearsing again for the forthcoming gigs, and we hope you will come along to join in the fun. Sorry we haven’t been around as much this year as we would have liked, but we aim to put this right. Will has now returned from his holiday with plenty of drunken stories to tell, so don’t be afraid to ask him, but a word of warning … it probably wouldn’t be a good idea to see the holiday photos, particularly if you are of a nervous disposition!
This Saturday we return to one of our favourite venues, the Banham Barrel! We still see it as very much our home gig, as so many of our friends turn out to see us. It all starts at 9 p.m. and we have a full set of our popular numbers ready for your enjoyment. It will cost you £3 each to get in, but hey, we’re worth it! There are some rumours that we might be joined on stage by some of our friends but nothing is confirmed as yet. What we can confirm though is that it’ll be a night to remember, and not something you would want to miss. So if you haven’t seen the band for a while, or even at all (where have you been?) get down to the Barrel this Saturday.
The 2nd of May sees us making our debut performance at the Norfolk County Council Social Club in the grounds of the County Hall on Martineau Lane in Norwich. They have a well stocked bar with real ales at great prices and whilst it is a members club, they are very keen to meet as many of our followers as possible so let’s show them what we are all about! Admission for non-members will be only a £1, payable at the door and the fun starts at 8 p.m.
Less than a week later, on 7th May, we are going back to school! As you will know all the members of the band have a very close relationship with Old Buckenham High School, and the band are linking up with the school’s Rock Workshop concert where the pupils will perform in the first half of the show and About Them Shoes will play a set in the second half. This is a very exciting event for us and it is great to support Tom Hilton in this way, so we would love to see as many current and former pupils there on the night. So why not send this newsletter to everyone you know who went to OBHS, as well as any classmates who are still there and let’s see how many we can get into the hall!
We can perform for you at your party too!
In between the 2nd and 7th May gigs we are playing at a private party. No, we are not asking you to gate crash the party but if you need a band to play for you why not ask us? We are very competitively priced and love going to parties!
Finally an apology to those of you who were fortunate enough to receive a voucher to get one of the live CD’s from our performance last year at The Brickmakers. Yes, we know that the discs haven’t found their way to you yet, but we promise to send them very soon.
Thank you to everyone for your support, and please continue to spread the ‘News on the Shoes’ by following us on twitter, liking us on facebook and asking your friends to subscribe to this Newsletter by sending an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with SUBSCRIBE TO NEWSLETTER in the subject line and their email address will be added to the growing list of subscribers who automatically receive the newsletter in their inbox!
Take care and we hope to see you on the road in April and May.
